Our Computers aren’t working? October 10, 2011

Well That’s just your bad luck.

That’s what I was told after paying $80 to sit a test that went for a grand total of 18 minutes and featured a lovely array of the finest quality videos that youtube has seen. Yeah It was an 18 minutes slideshow of the worst quality videos that have ever been witnessed. RTA Driver testing has hit an all time low, you are required to watch clips taken from within a car which goes through a series of hazards, you respond to these hazards by tapping the screen when you believe you should slow down, However, in the video you are unable to see the hazard until it is too late, and no matter how early you respond you still fail. (Yes I actually tapped the screen BEFORE the video had even advanced one second).

The RTA’s new standards of testing feature a person driving a car through hazards, recording these experiences on a camera phone and if you are smarter than a dog you also realise that in the videos THE PERSON DRIVING BREAKS THE LAW on several occasions. If I had done my practical test to the same standard of that of the driver in the video I would have failed with flying colours.

On top of that their computers were constantly crashing that day, their website was down and the ‘Detailed’ sheet I received at the end of the test listed hazards that I failed to identify ignoring the fact that I wasn’t even tested on most of them. I would gladly resit a Practical driving test than sit though a 5 minute clip show of blurry camera phone videos and a system which strives on the $40 per attempt. I would rather take my chances with the pokies, apparently the odds are much higher. Pokies in Australia have 1- 1,000,000 odds, I might recommend to all the gambling addicts that the RTA testing computers can suck more money faster.

On top of that they believe that I have no basis to request a refund, Lets see what the Dept. of Fair Trading has to say about that. They also lack in customer service because well, the RTA has NO competition because they have exclusive rights to licencing in NSW and as a government department don’t have to follow the same laws as other businesses.

It’s depressing when you see people parked like this who have somehow successfully passed the driving test.

Weeeee! I found my old blog. Time to start making articulate and meaningful posts.

ok… I’ll just end up ranting about random crap, but it’s my blog, if you don’t agree with it please leave a slightly amusing comment then leave forever. Unless you think of more entertaining comments to leave :3

I may even move this to my web server instead of leeching off wordpress servers forever. Perhaps I’ll buy a domain while I’m at it…

Maybe I’ll start a vlog….. LOLJK

I never appreciated my internet until i started getting really good BT speeds.

Yeah… That lasted long enough. Now i have to pay to pirate…

What is this? A bootleg DVD shop. Megaupload seemed like a good idea at first but i think i preferred not paying a subscription… Well, I need to kill 150gb a month on cable somehow. Even if it does cost $10 a month.

At least until the war is over…

Ok then… I was meant i to update daily… Not 6 monthly :( October 19, 2010

Unforseable Hacktions November 18, 2009

After hacking my lappy, which i’m quite laid back about now, I realised another person who hacked their lappy (who i thought knew what they were doing) completely stuffed it.

And i don’t mean small things like losing apps or buggy menus, it’s completely stuffed.

For more awesome people (ie. Linux users) you might say its “fsck’d”

Not only did he trust apps he found on FACEBOOK! He continued to change system vital settings he can no longer connect to internet in the classroom, He can’t login to a DET account, and he has to log into the Admin account which he changed the name of.

To me it was just dumb, Now if they are audited he wont be able to cover whats already been done, He didn’t make a backup image incase  review is done and the only way or him to have it fixed without having to admit he is a loser is to DBAN (Zero File the HDD) and say “umm, its broked it is”

Anyway i like the guy but i warned him, i even told him about the potential of acid spraying out when he opened it.

On a lighter note, my hack was much better, I ran a Bootable app running on a Linux Kernel (Rather than a loser app run in windows off facebook) And it lets you cancel any changes before you save it.

It works by copying the SAM, SECURITY, and SYSTEM files and editing them as you wish (using a very simple command line interface) Then when your done you can save them over the old ones. It only ever edits copies until you confirm the changes so if you do something you didnt want to do you can still use your PC.

Mine keeps the Admin account in the name Administrator, And i can use my DET account to log into it. By looking at it you wouldn’t know its different to any other year 9 Lenovo S10e Except mine is black :)

That and my internet still works at School (Except for in the admin account because the password has changed and i dont know the old one)

Over im happy with the hack but dissapointed by howw easy it was and annoyed that someone could fsck it up so bad it wasn’t worth hacking

This was going to be an update about my trip to Kiama yesterday. After today though, i don’t think i can without raging about today.

So i’ll say this, The first half of the day was good, after lunch, not so much. Yesterday was great.

As the title states, i shouldn’t be here, im not in a physical location but on the internet.

Optus told us our internet would be suspended today due to late fees.

So really i might not even be updating but here i am typing away using my internet connection that shouldn’t be.

But also on a diffrent but same note. I shouldn’t be here (yes, this time im talking about my home)

I’m going to Kiama today to pick up a network switch i bought of eBay. We decided to turn the day into a day out instead of doing a job.

So today is a day to blog about another day…

Hacking the Unhackable November 14, 2009

I recieved a free lenovo S10e last Thursday from the DET. It was a part of a schloarship to encourage students to stay at that particular school.

The lappy is the same as the ones year 9 recieves Australia wide except with some difference.

1- Mine is black

2- Mine has a slot for a 3G module

3- I hacked into Admin

Well it was an annoying and pointless waste of time.

ok i can blog, and install apps, and go on facebook, but im not happy.

It took 3 days to get into admin (Several failed attempts at decryption then finally just a clean SAM wipe) but, it was too easy for these “unhackable” netbooks, considering the app that did the job took less than 10 minutes im very dissapointed, i expected more of a fight.

And in a smll way i miss 80% of the internet being blocked, and being restricted to DET software. Maybe thats what i needed and now ive spoiled it…
